You must choose your electricity provider
As an electric power customer you are actually making purchases from two companies, your local grid company and your power supplier. It's the customers responsibility to find and choose a power supplier.
Grid owner transports electricity …
The grid company owns all electric meters and the power grid in its license area; it distributes electricity to your house and is responsible for maintaining a reliable and effective distribution grid. Hafslund Nett is such a company.
… power supplier sells electric power
The power supplier sells you the electric power you use. There are several companies to choose from, and each company have several products to choose between.
If you have not already done so, we recommend that you contact the electricity provider of your choice as soon as possible. A list of electricity providers is available from the Norwegian Competition Authority’s website: www.konkurransetilsynet.no.
Here you can see the list of electricity providers in Hafslund Netts areas.
An agreement to purchase electricity must be entered into directly with the electricity provider of your choice. The agreement with the electricity provider will normally come into effect two weeks after we have received confirmation from the electricity provider of your choice.
If you forget to find an electricity provider
The statutory obligation to supply electricity is meant to be a temporary arrangement and the electricity so supplied will normally be more expensive than the electricity purchased from an ordinary electricity provider.
Until you have signed an agreement with an ordinary electricity provider, Hafslund Nett will supply you with electricity in accordance with the grid companies’ statutory obligation to supply customers who do not have an agreement with an ordinary electricity provider.
